About event:

This year, the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded to Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson, and James A. Robinson for their research on the role of institutions in long-term economic growth. Their work helps explain why some countries prosper while others struggle with poverty and stagnation.
Ukrainians have focused on discussing the book "Why Nations Fail?" by two of the laureates. At KSE, we would like to draw attention to the laureates' ideas themselves and their relevance for Ukraine. To this end, KSE Rector Tymofiy Brik and KSE President Tymofiy Mylovanov will hold a popular science two-hour seminar on the top three articles by the laureates.
We invite everyone interested, as well as students, faculty, and staff of the Kyiv School of Economics.
To participate in the workshop, please review the following articles and prepare questions for discussion:

● "The colonial origins of comparative development: An empirical"

● "Reversal of fortune: Geography and institutions in the making of the modern world income distribution"

● "Automation and new tasks: How technology displaces and reinstates labor"
