About event:
We invite you to KSE for an open lecture «Sleep and biological rhythms in calm and challenging times — what can we influence?» with Olga Maslova, PhD in Biology, science populariser, co-author of the book When I Finally Sleep and author of The Adventures of Cells.
What do your sleep, your internal clock, and the effects of light have in common? Why is it so important to find your own rhythm of life? How are biological, astronomical, and social times synchronised, and why is their balance critical to health?
During the meeting, we will address popular questions about sleep that most of us have. Namely:● How the brain regulates biological rhythms and what happens in cells during sleep● Why light (and its absence) affects our body● At what time melatonin is actually synthesised and how to influence this system● How many hours of sleep you need at different ages● Is polyphasic sleep really useful and can we believe advertising messages like ‘we will teach you to sleep like Leonardo da Vinci’● What is chronotype and is there a ‘correct’ daily routine?● How the war affected the quality of sleep and why different security situations require different approaches
Take this opportunity to broaden your horizons and learn how to improve your own sleep!
