About the program
The Master of Science in Memory and Public History (MSPH) program is suitable for anyone with a bachelor's degree in a related field and an interest in memory and public history, including historians, museum curators, archivists, journalists, public figures, and teachers of the humanities.
It is ideal for representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil servants, university students, and practitioners interested in memory and history.
Students of the program acquire practical skills in researching, analyzing, and interpreting various sources of memory, working with public spaces and the representation of the past in media communications, working with historical storytelling and memorialization of history. They also have the opportunity to participate in practical projects aimed at researching and preserving cultural heritage, agenda-setting, creating media products and podcasts, and advocating for memory in the public sphere. This practical experience provides students with valuable skills and knowledge that they can use in their future careers.
MSPH provides students with experience working in the Ukrainian context to research and protect historical events, monuments, disseminate knowledge about the past, and study public history in its various manifestations. Students can research the history of the Ukrainian national movement, cultural heritage sites located on the territory of Ukraine, or research the history of local communities and their cultural heritage, media, film, YouTube and podcasts, local history and national narratives. This experience can provide students with valuable skills and knowledge that they can use to shape the country's political agenda, implement projects, and influence the development of Ukrainian society.
