"Crisis to Creativity: Empowering Communities with Tactical Urbanism in Wartime Ukraine"

"Probably, we all wondered how relevant are investments in the improvement of cities during the war. Public opinion is sensitive to the use of limited resources. So what tools for working with spaces and communities are available? It might seem out of time, right?!But let's try to ask the question differently.
Can tactical urban solutions based on the principles of inclusion and people-orientation improve the psycho-emotional state of people and communities? Can the urban environment be made more comfortable and welcoming right now for those who need it? Will visible spatial changes add a little to our resilience, flexibility, endurance, and, ultimately, hope? And in the end, are they so expensive and difficult to implement?
The experts we invited to the public debate believe that tactical urbanism can be a good answer to many challenges.Until recently, this concept was new and unknown to the general public in Ukraine. But in times of crisis and limited resources, it is precisely such creative approaches as tactical urbanism that can embody a change in the paradigm of thinking and be a tool of people's power. Such projects can restore or even create a sense of belonging and responsibility for the space in which we live.
We will discuss all these aspects with Ukrainian experts in urban planning and urban politics Yevgenia Kuleba and Hanna Bondar, as well as a foreign guest, a Danish expert in tactical urbanism Mikael Colville-Andersen."
