Swedish Centre forEuropean Future

About the center

The Swedish Center for Europe’s Future was established at KSE in 2025 with financial support from Sweden in response to Ukraine’s need for a systematic and professional approach to preparing for EU integration. The Center brings together the analytical and academic teams of the Kyiv School of Economics to create a platform designed to strengthen the state’s expert and human-capital capacity on its path toward EU membership.
The mission of the Center
is to accelerate Ukraine’s path toward membership in the European Union by providing evidence-based analysis, developing academic capacity, offering professional training, and facilitating sustained dialogue between the government, business, civil society, and European institutions.
The Center’s work streams include education, research, policy development, and facilitation of public dialogue on Ukraine’s EU accession, engaging all key stakeholders.

Specifically, the Center was created to:

Strengthen the reform processes required for Ukraine’s accession to the EU● The Center supports reforms in public procurement, digital regulation, budget planning, regional development, and property-rights protection — delivering practical results and tangible impact on the progress of reforms.● Enhance the academic dimension and build a new school of EU-integration research – facilitating academic mobility and exchanges of faculty and students with EU partner universities.

The Center develops a robust academic infrastructure that connects research and public policy, including:● engaging Swedish Distinguished Professors;● supporting teaching and research directions at KSE;● integrating EU standards and methodologies into academic programs;● facilitating academic mobility and exchanges of faculty and students with EU partner universities;● preparing scientific and policy studies that create a verified knowledge base on EU policies.

Develop and support student activities in the field of European integrationThe Center invests in shaping a new generation of EU-oriented leaders through:● support for student organizations (including the KSE EU Club);● international educational projects and partnerships with EU universities;● lectures, workshops, debates, and simulations of EU institutions;● podcasts, interdisciplinary formats, student-led analytics, and research initiatives.

Support dialogue between government, business, and the EUThe Center provides a platform for high-level discussions and meaningful engagement of business in shaping Ukraine’s negotiation positions, promoting transparency, mutual understanding, and alignment of reforms with the real needs of the economy.
