Laboratory for the Study of Religion

Mission:

To create a platform for scholars at KSE who study religion, enabling collaborative educational and research work, and to foster critical, independent research on religion in Ukraine.

Focus:

The team focuses on examining the role of religious practices in social, cultural, and political transformations, as well as in shaping national identity.

Religion as a component of national identity in contemporary Ukraine

The instrumentalization of religious institutions for propaganda purposes

The impact of war on Ukrainian religious communities

The role of religion in practices of memorialization

Religion Research Seminar

A regular academic forum for discussing current projects, new research approaches, and methodological challenges in the study of religion.

Public Lecture Series: "Religion, Nationalism, and Democratic Processes in Ukraine and Beyond"

A set of public events featuring leading Ukrainian and international scholars analyzing the interplay between religious phenomena and political processes.
