About event:

Kyiv School of Economics invites you to participate in a first seminar of the Laboratory of Graph Theory and Network Analysis.
The event will feature two presentations:
🔹 Talk 1: “Dual Approach for Sociological Research of Political Polarization”
This presentation will analyze the article “Pluralistic Collapse: The ‘Oil Spill’ Model of Mass Opinion Polarization” by Daniel DellaPosta.
We will explore the ideas presented in the paper, with a particular focus on the proposed model of polarization dynamics. The talk will also provide a general overview of methods for identifying belief networks and examine how the obtained results align with DellaPosta’s hypothesis.

🔹 Talk 2: “What is the Triameter of a Graph?”
This presentation will introduce a relatively new graph parameter — the triameter. We will review the key results from A. Das’s article “Triameter of Graphs” and the preprint “On the Triameter of a Graph.”
Special attention will be given to how three of the four open questions posed in the first work were addressed in the paper by A. Hak, S. Kozerenko, and B. Oliynyk, “A Note on the Triameter of Graphs.”

The talk will conclude with a discussion of several current open problems related to further exploration of the triameter.
