Oleksandr Marynych

Simons Professor in Mathematics

Oleksandr Marynych specializes in probability theory and stochastic processes, with a focus on combinatorial probability, probabilistic number theory, and stochastic geometry.
Oleksandr earned his PhD from Utrecht University in 2011. In 2017, he received the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He held postdoctoral positions at Eindhoven University of Technology (2011–2012) and at the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics of University of Münster (2015–2017). From 2008 to 2026, he worked as assistant, lecturer and professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
In recent years, Oleksandr Marynych has been a visiting professor and researcher at the University of Wrocław (Poland), University of Münster (Germany), Queen Mary University of London (United Kingdom), and Xidian University (China).
Oleksandr's research has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Award of the President of Ukraine for Young Scientists (2017), the Stanisław Ulam Scholarship (2020, Poland), the Scholarship of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Doctors of Sciences (2020), and the Award of the Ukrainian Mathematical Society and the Shevchenko Scientific Society (USA) for the Best Young Ukrainian Mathematicians (2021).
