About the Program:

This is an innovative program created in partnership with ETH Zürich. The cooperation with ETH Zürich provides Ukrainian students and KSE faculty with advanced knowledge and methodologies in the field of electrical engineering
The aim of this program is to develop the micro- and nanoelectronics industry in Ukraine by training elite engineers who will be able to develop their own chips
The program's teachers, not only scientists but also leading engineers from partner companies, share their practical experience and introduce students to the real challenges of the industry
Practical classes are held in a modern laboratory with powerful computers, Digilent Analog Discovery 2 measuring complexes, power supplies, ADALM Pluto Software Defined Radio systems, Zybo Z7 FPGA debug boards (Zynq, Xilinx), Storey Peak (Stratix V, Altera/Intel), Analog System Lab Kit PRO complexes for discrete analog design
Ability to manufacture the developed chips - participation in international grant programs and production projects Europractice, Efabless Chip Ignite, Tiny Tapeout

Key Skills of a Graduate:

Design analog, digital and radio frequency integrated circuits using Cadence IC Package (Virtuoso, Innovus, Genus, Xcelium), Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Keysight ADS, QuestalSim, Matlab and other professional tools
Develop system-on-chips (SoCs) based on ARM and RISC-V processor cores for signal processing and artificial intelligence tasks using Xilinx Zynq SoCs and the open PULP (Pulpissimo, Croc, ARA, Hero) platform created at ETH
Design hardware computing accelerators for systems with reconfigurable architecture (FPGA) using Vitis HLS
Verify digital circuits using SystemVerilog language tools
Create analog-to-digital automatic control systems using both classical and modern computational approaches for the development of stabilization platforms, drone control, navigation, and industrial automation
Develop signal analysis algorithms for radar, wireless communication, radio reconnaissance and electronic warfare tasks and implement such algorithms in the form of Software Defined Radio systems and RFIC chips
Create solutions for the defense and telecommunications industries using modern design methods

Feedback on Studying at KSE

Farina Svetlana

Student of the Micro and Nanoelectronics program

The program is very intense!

I can say that in the first semester I gained a huge amount of knowledge and practical skills.

Laboratory and practical classes are very helpful in understanding how to use this knowledge in general.

Also, I would like to emphasize the ethics and approach of the teachers. Teaching is at a very high level.

The attention to detail and openness of the teachers, the absence of prejudice and, in general, the willingness to answer even the stupidest questions and explain on fingers where students do not understand something - this is all very valuable!

Goryunov Ilya

Student of the Micro and Nanoelectronics program

In general, everything is very top-notch.

Especially compared to state universities.

I really like the flexibility of the training.

The material is also very top-notch.

In general, summing up, I really like it, and after hearing what the next subjects will be about, I have a very strong desire to take them

Shevchuk Vitaliy

Student of the Micro and Nanoelectronics program

Overall, I really like the joint ETH-KSE program in micro- and nanoelectronics. Indeed, microelectronics is one of the key innovative industries with great potential for development.

The ETH program is very rich in mathematics, which, according to KSE professors, exceeds the level of mathematics taught to engineers in Ukraine.

I think that KSE and its professors are doing their best to adapt the ETH program to students from Ukraine.

In general, the first semester was extremely interesting and useful for me! The learning process is organized, and the material is presented clearly and easily. The teachers are always ready to help and answer questions, and the coordinators are supportive and make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Laboratory work was very informative and allowed me to apply the theory in practice
