Kyiv School of Economics and RethinkX launch a new course on navigating disruption

KSE and RethinkX are launching «Distruption Economics»: a 3-week, 6-module course built for students, young leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and anyone who senses that the current model of the world is already outdated and needs new frameworks to navigate.

The course confronts the disruptions reshaping daily life: energy, artificial intelligence and labor, transportation, food. The single idea underneath all of them: the future does not unfold linearly; it arrives abruptly. Most institutions still forecast by extrapolating yesterday. This course teaches participants to recognize nonlinear change early enough to shape it, rather than be blindsided by it.

"As the world hurtles towards the disruptive change that we at RethinkX have studied for a decade, it’s never been more critical to have the tools to navigate disruption and to thrive through this unprecedented era. Whether for an individual, an organisation, or a region, this course will teach you to thrive amid the tsunami of change and not drown in it. As the world hurtles toward the disruptive change we at RethinkX have studied for a decade, it's never been more critical to have the tools to navigate it. Whether for an individual, an organization, or a region, this course will teach you to thrive through the tsunami of change – not drown under it." said James Arbib, RethinkX co-lead.

The program’s ideologist and main donor is Robert Gibbins, a British entrepreneur and visionary, founder of Autonomy Capital. Teams from RethinkX and KSE worked on the course for 12 months. The leading authors of the program are Tymofiy Mylovanov, Tymofii Brik, Bradd Libby and Jamie Arbib. An innovative learning platform with an integrated AI agent was developed by the KSE team specifically for this program to create a better learning experience.

“Most people live their lives or careers without ever really understanding the technology that will determine so much of what happens to their efforts.  This course puts people in firm grasp of the technology context, what drives the future, and the implications for their careers, families and lives.  It puts people in the driver seat with the tools required to make great decisions for themselves and their families and businesses.” – Robert Gibbins, founder of Autonomy Capital.

KSE is not a case study in disruption; it is one. The campus runs through blackouts and missile strikes. Every framework taught here is stress-tested in a wartime economy. Paired with RethinkX's Seba Technology Disruption Framework, which anticipated solar cost curves and EV adoption timelines years ahead, the course, created in joint forces, doesn’t test theoretical frameworks but captures the real-life experience of Kyiv.

“Ukraine cannot afford to live and try to rebuild yesterday’s economy or defense. This course will help business and policy leaders distinguish a passing trend from a real disruption – and understand its scope, speed and scale. RethinkX brings a rigorous framework; KSE brings Ukraine’s experience of ‘risk inversion,’ the point when waiting becomes more dangerous than acting. That is why this partnership matters now.” – Tymofii Mylovanov, President of the Kyiv School of Economics.

Ahead of the official launch, KSE and RethinkX have decided to open an exclusive pilot cohort, free of charge, to the most motivated members of both communities. To join and secure early access, applicants must confirm their motivation and commitment by completing the application form by August 14.
