Open Lecture: “How To Win an Information War: Lessons from History for How Ukraine Can Lead Democracies’ Fight Against Authoritarian Propaganda”

KSE University invites you to an open lecture by Peter Pomerantsev — an author, researcher, and Senior Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University Agora Institute. His books on propaganda and disinformation have received multiple prestigious awards, including the Gordon Burn Prize and Sunday Times Book of the Year.

The lecture, “How To Win an Information War: Lessons from History for How Ukraine can lead Democracies’ Fight Against Authoritarian Propaganda,” will explore how states respond to propaganda and what steps Ukraine can take to effectively counter authoritarian influence.

During the event, the speaker will cover:

  • lessons from Britain’s secret propaganda war against the Nazis;
  • how Ukraine can rethink information warfare and lead democracies in countering authoritarian propaganda;
  • why traditional “debunking” and “resilience” approaches are insufficient and why a more offensive strategy is needed;
  • case studies of successful campaigns against Russia and how they can be scaled.

Participants will gain practical insights into information warfare, tools for proactive counter-disinformation, and real-world examples applicable both in Ukraine and internationally.
