Пам’ять, що формує майбутнє: підсумки форуму «Поліс пам’яті» в KSE

Культура пам’яті про війну в Україні формується просто зараз — у міських просторах, інституційних рішеннях і щоденних практиках громад. Усвідомлюючи важливість цього процесу, KSE разом із рухом VETERANKA ініціювали відкрите обговорення спільних підходів до осмислення війни та її наслідків.

Форум «Поліс памʼяті», що відбувся в KSE Dragon Capital Building, зібрав дослідників, представників громадських ініціатив і професійних спільнот, які працюють із темою публічної пам’яті. У центрі розмов — переосмислення підходів до вшанування, співіснування різних досвідів і наративів війни в публічному просторі, а також виклики, з якими вже сьогодні стикаються громади та інституції.

Особливу увагу учасники приділили відповідальності держави й місцевих спільнот, конфліктам пам’яті та практикам меморіалізації, що народжуються зараз і визначатимуть суспільний ландшафт на роки вперед.

Форум став простором чесної та глибокої розмови — без спрощень і готових рецептів, але з прагненням виробити спільні орієнтири, на які можна спиратися у майбутніх рішеннях, політиках та освітніх ініціативах.

Подію організував рух VETERANKA у партнерстві з Центром прав людини та меморіалізації війни, програмою «Дослідження пам’яті та публічна історія» та факультетом соціальних наук KSE.

Пам’ять — це не лише про минуле, а й про наше спільне майбутнє. Саме через уважне осмислення пережитого ми здатні будувати сильніше, більш відповідальне суспільство, що вміє чути різні голоси та знаходити точки єдності. Розмова триває — і кожен із нас є її важливою частиною.

Memory Shaping the Future: Highlights from the “Policy of Memory” Forum at KSE

The culture of remembering the war in Ukraine is taking shape right now — in urban spaces, institutional decisions, and the everyday practices of communities. Recognizing the importance of this process, KSE, together with the VETERANKA movement, initiated an open discussion on shared approaches to understanding the war and its consequences.

The “Policy of Memory” forum, held at the KSE Dragon Capital Building, brought together researchers, representatives of civic initiatives, and professional communities working with the topic of public memory. At the center of the discussions was a rethinking of commemoration practices, the coexistence of diverse wartime experiences and narratives in public space, and the challenges that communities and institutions are already facing today.

Participants paid special attention to the responsibility of the state and local communities, conflicts of memory, and memorialization practices emerging now that will shape the social landscape for years to come.

The forum became a space for honest and in-depth conversation — without oversimplifications or ready-made solutions, but with a shared commitment to developing common reference points to guide future decisions, policies, and educational initiatives.

The event was organized by the VETERANKA movement in partnership with the Center for Human Rights and War Memorialization, the Memory Studies and Public History program, and the KSE Faculty of Social Sciences.

Memory is not only about the past — it is also about our shared future. Through thoughtful reflection on what we have experienced, we can build a stronger, more responsible society that is capable of hearing diverse voices and finding common ground. The conversation continues, and each of us is an important part of it.
